Make Automation Landing Page Featured

The Project:

This was the last of four workflows (create, edit, close/revive and featured) built to allow non-technical users to manage website content directly from their regular Monday work environment by simply filling out an embedded Jotform. This Make scenario promotes the card for a custom post type to the top of the home page and removes another. The simplest of the four scenarios — included here mainly to complete the set — the only real complexity was the logic ensuring that promoting one card also demotes another, to avoid a visual 'hole' in the three-card set.

The Tools:

  • Make
  • Monday and Monday CRM
  • Jotform
  • WordPress
  • Advanced Custom Fields
  • CPT UI
  • Postmark
  • Code Snippets/PHP

The Solution:

The requestor fills out the feature form with the post ID number of the post to be featured and the post ID to be demoted. The gating to ensure one page is demoted and one promoted lives in Jotform requiring both fields be completed and preventing the same post ID from being entered in both, so a request can't accidentally promote and demote the same page. The scenario simply finds the posts and adds the featured category to one and removes it from the other. The card loop is built to only display cards for posts with this category.

The Result:

This closes the loop on the full landing page system. Requestors manage every part of a page's lifecycle, from creation to editing to featuring, entirely from the Monday board they already live in, with no IT ticket at any step.
